Troop 135 is a Boy Scout Troop located in Clearwater, Florida.  We meet at the Lighthouse of Heritage United Methodist Church on Thursdays at 7PM.  Heritage United Methodist Church sponsors the troop and is located at the corner of SR580 and Landmark Drive.  If you are interested in joining the troop, please come to a meeting and see how much fun we have!

March Campout -- Troop 135 Annual Crossover

Troop 135's Annual Crossover Campout is March 16 to 18 at Camp Soule. There is no formal permission slip for this campout, but please print and fill out the RSVP and payment form. This is the time when we welcome Webelos Scouts who cross over into Boy Scouting. This is always a big event, please RSVP soon (the whole family is invited!), so the Troop may plan to have enough food for everyone. Cooking is Troop style, please plan to bring a drinking cup. February PLC Meeting
February's PLC meeting is Tuesday, February 21, 2011 at 7:00 PM. The location will be Mr. Porcoro's house at 3368 Hyde Park Drive. All PLC including APL's and Troop Guides please attend.

National Youth Leader Training
It is not too early to plan for NYLT. For 2012, our council will again be offering the National Youth Leader Training program to Scouts who are at least 1st Class rank and 13 years old at the beginning of the course and have completed the 7th grade. The course will be held at Sandhill Scout Reservation the week of July 15th through 20th.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your son to become a better Troop leader, and to help maintain a youth led Troop. Our Scoutmaster and his Assistants would like to encourage any Scout who is eligible and is interested in a Troop leadership position to consider attending this course.

Scouts from Troop 135 have had great success with this course. Our NYLT Scout alumni include 2 NYLT Course SPL's. Please talk to the Scouts who attended previous programs to get a first hand account of the quality of the training and the benefits to the Scout.

Alaska High Adventure
Scouts planning to attend High Adventure in Alaska next summer (2012), must have a deposit into Mr. Sammel, ASAP. Please see Mr. Sammel for info.

Summer Camp 2012
Troop 135's out of state summer camp for 2012 will be at Camp Thunder, part of the Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base near Molena, GA. Camp Thunder highlights more than 60 merit badges, and has a Buckskin first-year camper program, and a Pathfinder outdoor adventure program for 2nd-year campers. In addition, Camp Thunder gives Scouts access to the southeast's oldest high adventure base with COPE, climbing, the Flint River Challenge, River Rat Adventures, 50-Miler Treks, and the famous Mountain Man pioneer experience.
